During the close door meeting with these distinguished PBB delegates, Taib Mahmud disclosed that Anwar was never friendly with the Sarawak Government.
At that time, Anwar Ibrahim was the Deputy Prime Minister and he was also holding the portfolio of the Finance Minister. When he was approached to reconsider the oil and gas royalty for Sarawak, he told the Sarawak delegates that it was not for discussion. And now when he is desperate for vote to embark on his journey to Putrajaya, he made the oil and gas royalty as a major manifesto to raise votes from Sabah and Sarawak.
Another issue was involving the request to extend the alternative road or build a secondary road for Sarawak central region. During the budget review, he promised the Sarawak delegates that he will approve their request for this secondary road connecting the northern region with the central region to promote economic development. However, he never mentioned about it when he addressed the parliament. This is another request from Sarawak being turned down. Yet now the PKR issue-monger always pointed out the road development issues in Sarawak which was set back previously when Anwar Ibrahim was the Deputy Prime Minister.
The third issue raised by CM was regarding the higher education system in Sarawak. The PM at that time (Tun Mahathir) already approved RM 300 m for the UNIMAS project in Kota Samarahan. However, Anwar Ibrahim being the Finance Minister and power hungry for the position of Deputy President in UMNO used this fund to build UMS in Sabah for the Sabahans to gain confidence to become the Deputy President since he was not that popular with the Peninsular UMNO members.
If you think Anwar Ibrahim will consider another economic or any development in Sarawak then you are mistaken because Anwar will perform anything to serve his purpose only. This is to show how selfish he could be as a Deputy Prime Minister! What more if he is the Prime Minister of Malaysia?
